Ear Piercing

NOTICE: Ear piercing appointments must be scheduled by calling our clinic.  A non-refundable $25 deposit is required to schedule. This deposit will be applied to total procedure cost of $85.


Age Recommendation

We recommend scheduling ear piercing after your child is at least 2 months old.
This allows time for:

  • Your child to receive their first set of vaccines (REQUIRED FOR PROCEDURE, MINIMUM OF 2 WEEKS PRIOR TO APPOINTMENT)
  • The ear to grow large enough for precise placement of the earring
  • Minimized risk during this elective procedure


Our Piercing Method

We use the GentlePierce™ system – a sterile, single-use, hand-held device that pierces using the earring itself (piercing stud).
Key features:

  • Titanium earrings (hypoallergenic)
  • One ear pierced at a time
  • A parent or guardian must securely hold the child during the procedure


Appointments Only

Ear piercing is available by appointment only and cannot be added to a regular sick or well visit.
This ensures:

  • Dedicated time for the procedure
  • Opportunity to answer questions
  • Full explanation of aftercare

  • Insurance: This is a cosmetic procedure and not covered by insurance.
    We do         not bill insurance, and cash or checks are not accepted.



Ear Piercing - After Care Instructions

The healing process for pierced ears is usually around 6 months with most of it happening in the

first 6-8 weeks. It is important to follow the provided guidance below to promote optimal healing.


During the first 6 weeks:

⮚ Always wash your hands before touching newly pierced ears.

⮚ Twice daily, gently clean the earlobes without removing the earring, front and back, with a 

sterile solution provided. Apply solution liberally to a Q-tip and apply to the front and back of 

the ear. Gently rock the earrings back and forth while cleaning. You may use an antibiotic ointment 

front and back to reduce the chance of infection.

⮚ Each time you clean the earrings, turn them gently several times. This is important for healing 

properly, so the skin does not adhere to the earring.

⮚ Hair may be washed normally. Be sure soap/shampoo is rinsed completely from the ears and dry 

carefully. Cover ears when using spray perfume or hairspray.

⮚ Take extra care when removing clothing over your head to prevent the earrings from getting 

caught.


After the first 6 weeks:

⮚ After the first 6 weeks, other post-style earrings may be worn. Carefully remove the earrings, 

preferably after a shower or bath.

⮚ Replace piercing studs with other post type earrings made of ≥18k gold, surgical 

stainless

steel, titanium, platinum, or plastic.

⮚ No heavy earrings should be worn for at least 4-6 MONTHS after healing time.

⮚ Do not go longer than 24 hours without earrings in place, otherwise the holes may begin to 

close.

⮚ While your piercings are new, the holes are slightly larger than they will be after healing. Do 

not allow the backing to get pulled into the earlobe.

⮚ Persistent pain and persistent bleeding (beyond minimal oozing, redness, swelling) is not a 

normal result of ear piercing. This could indicate an infection. If this happens, you should call
